WELCOME TO HISTORY CRAFT

Telling Stories That Matter

At History Craft, we bring the past to life and make it relevant to the present, so that we can shape a better future. Our comprehensive storytelling shop is based in Washington D.C., but we work with clients near and far on stories that deeply resonate with wide audiences. To tell great stories, we investigate, we humanize... then we communicate.

WE BRING YOUR STORY TO LIFE

We are historians. We are writers. We are communicators.

We locate rich material through primary and secondary research.  Then, we distill our findings into vivid written stories.  Finally, we all work together to determine the best ways to communicate those stories.  Our work vividly articulates key themes and humanizes history for companies, governments and educators.

OUR WORK

Investigate. Humanize... Then Communicate.

STORYTELLING

Every person, family, culture and company has a story to tell. Our professional historians work with you to identify the most poignant ones, conduct in-depth primary and secondary research, and write vivid narratives to bring it all to life. Our institutional histories identify key themes, unpack crucial stories and provide the scaffolding for promotional material, anniversary celebrations, and commemorative publications.

CURRICULUM WRITING AND EDUCATIONAL DESIGN

Our experienced educators and historians work with you to craft vivid curriculum that brings history to life for students of all ages.  As we all know, history is not just a set of dates and names.. it is the human experience.  First, we investigate through research.  Then, we write our lesson plans, unit plans and curriculum guides to humanize, empathize and make relevant histories that may otherwise fly under the radar.  Finally, we determine the best ways to package, display and communicate about the new, unique resources we create.

EVENT VISIONING AND PLANNING

Commemorating an anniversary? Hosting a conference?  Initiating a public history program?  Our historians, educators and communicators can guide you through the process.  We can help you articulate key themes, engineer scope, conduct research, write persuasive proposals, craft narratives for the media, write calls for proposals and facilitate the selection process.
